Earlier today, Robert appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” to talk about The Avengers (in U.S. theaters tomorrow). For now, pictures from his appearance can be seen in the gallery. “Jay Leno” will air later tonight, May 3rd, at 11:35/10:35c.

The world premiere of the highly anticipated Marvel superhero film took place on Wednesday, April 10th, in Los Angeles. RDJ happily showed up with his wife, Susan, for their first public appearance together since baby Exton was born. They both look amazing! Enjoy!

Earlier this evening, Robert Downey Jr attended the 25th Annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, looking sharp as ever. Along with “iCarly” star, Miranda Cosgrove, he presented Favorite Buttkicker to none other than Taylor Lautner. During his acceptance speech, Taylor pointed Robert out and playfully said that he’d be winning the award next year “for Iron Man 3 and The Avengers.” So nice (and probably right)! Robert Downey Jr. presented Best Documentary at the 2012 Oscars earlier this evening, complete with some fun banter with Iron Man co-star, Gwyneth Paltrow. Onstage, Robert pretended to be part of a documentary and upped the arrogance for laughs. You can watch a video at this Tumblr. In the meantime, check out some backstage anecdotes before he presented his award category:
6:28 p.m. — Robert Downey Jr. chewed away on his gum and danced along to the music as he waited in the wings to present an award during the Oscar show’s Cirque du Soleil performance. When his cue came he quickly deposited the gum in a napkin and stepped on stage.
6:42 p.m. — Stage manager Dency Nelson has discovered Downey’s discarded gum. “Robert Downey Jr. chewing gum! We could sell it on eBay,” Nelson jokes before tossing it in the trash.
6:50 p.m. — Wait a minute, this isn’t a beauty contest. “How do you feel about relinquishing your title?” Robert Downey Jr. asks last year’s supporting actress winner Melissa Leo after Octavia Spencer wins this year’s award. “Oh, I’m not,” she says. “”I thought you had to give them yours,” Downey replies.” I don’t know how this works.”
