ROBERT Downey Jr. hates being violent.
The Hollywood hunk says that while shooting his upcoming new movie Sherlock Holmes, he hated punching his costars — to the point where he got into arguments with director Guy Ritchie.
“Guy kept telling me to hit this guy and keep hitting him harder until I just said ‘No I won’t do it, I’m not going to do this again’,” he says.
“The guy was swelling up a little and he goes ‘I’m alright son.’ I was like ‘I know you’re alright but I don’t feel good about it’.”
Robert, 44, recently revealed that he used to visit a spiritualist medium.
“I used to go to the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Spiritual Society and listen to mediums as they shared the intimate goings on of the recently deceased with their mourning loved ones,” he told RottenTomatoes.
“It was a curiosity. I was a kid. By the way, I don’t believe in it or not believe in it. It is what it is and there are certain realms of activity where you can get information.” [Source]
Robert Downey Jr has claimed that his new Sherlock Holmes movie had to “twist up” Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s character to keep it feeling fresh.
The actor admitted that, although the film takes historical liberties, it remains faithful to the spirit of Doyle’s literary creation.
“There’s an esoteric element to this and sometimes you just feel like you’re in the right groove and you feel the history and the legacy of something,” he said at the Holmes UK press conference.
“Sometimes you just feel like you’re being silently approved of from some other place in time. You can’t beat Doyle’s words, so we had one of his quotes on the call sheet every day. We had to twist it up a bit, I think it’s no mystery that Sherlock Holmes didn’t invent the silencer… We were honouring it but still being entertaining.”
Sherlock Holmes opens worldwide on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. [Source]
Robert Downey Jr has come face to face with himself – but the reasons are elementary.
The Sherlock Holmes star met a Madame Tussauds waxwork of himself, dressed as his character in the new Warner Bros film, which received its world premiere in London on Monday.
The figure has been styled to have the character’s tousled hairstyle and penetrating gaze.[Source]
While Downey Jr stars in the title role in the movie, which is released on Boxing Day, Jude Law plays his trusted ally Dr John Watson.
